Mesh

This page describes the operations to manipulate meshes used for formations.

Anchors Handling

Add anchors

Anchors can be placed on vertices for meshes and points for Bézier curves.

To add anchors:

  1. Select an object (mesh or curve) to be used as a formation.

  2. Go to the Mesh panel.

  3. Select the points of the object to add anchors on.

    • In Object mode, all vertices/control points will be selected.

    • In Edit mode, only selected vertices/control points will be used.

If an object has anchors, you will not be able to add new ones. To add new anchors, you will need to remove the existing ones first.

Set the minimal distance between anchors

Min distance is the minimal distance between anchors.

Changing this value will scale the object to respect the new minimal distance.

There are two different warnings if the minimal distance between anchors is too small.

  • If the minimal distance between the anchors is smaller than the minimal collision distance\text{minimal collision distance}, there will be a collision when using this formation for a transition. The error message Collision is displayed

  • If the minimal distance between the anchors is smaller than the min collision distance×2\text{min collision distance}\times\sqrt{2}, It is possible there could be a collision when using this formation for a transition. The error message Possible future collisions during transitions is displayed.

Set position

To register a mesh trajectory, place the blue cursor on the frame that begins the trajectory and use Set position. Then place the blue cursor on the frame that ends the trajectory, choose your new mesh location, and use Set position

A keyframe is placed on the timeline when the Set positionis used. To modify the mesh position on a specific keyframe, place the blue cursor on the keyframe and use Set position
